WIJFR: The Hunger Games

14 Sep

A lot of adults seem to really love this trilogy.  The back of the book made it sound sort of interesting but I have two words for the book:  implausible and grotesque.

Grotesque because of the reasons the Hunger Games were created and the way they becoming increasingly more inhumane each year.  Implausible because these are supposed to be the descendants of Americans and I cannot believe that Americans would EVER let this happen to their country.

Also, Scholastic publishes the book and while it doesn’t give a reading level on the book, their website says grades six to eight.  It was severely lacking the rich dialogue that could have made this plot a whole lot better… for adults.  I’m sure if I was in seventh grade I’d be all over this.

A big pat on the back for those of you who are proud of yourselves for reading this series “in under a week.”
